Beer at the Tav
February 21, 2009
For years, I’ve hyped up The Tavern on Germain in St. Cloud, Minnesota. It was one of my favorite local bars during college, mainly because they would routinely invite Neil Young cover bands to play on Thursday nights. And, they had Pilsner Urquell on tap.
They no longer have Pilsner Urquell on tap, as I sadly discovered a few weeks ago. But they do have Fat Tire.
Jasper Yards
February 20, 2009
When I went to school in Marshall and, after that, in St. Cloud, we would take Highway 23 to and from Sioux Falls every couple of weeks. We always knew when we were in Jasper because, you know, this giant building was there to remind us.

Great (x5) Grandfather Clock
February 8, 2009
I hope to get some better pictures of this some day when the light is better and I can spend more time setting up the shot. But until then, here’s my great great great great great (I lose track of the “greats”) grandfather’s clock. It is passed to the first male grandchild, so Sierra’s first boy will get this someday.
It’s been through a lot. I don’t know all of the back story – it’s written down inside the clock – but I do know the first owner was blind, which is why the numbers are all worn away. He would wind it daily and read the time with his hands.
Someday, I’ll get it fixed. Until then, it’s an amazing heirloom.
