The Snake River

June 25, 2010

jackson's hole along the snake the bank self portrait we're on vacation!

I spent every summer for years kicking around Jackson Hole – enough that I never understood what the big deal was. So I was excited to head into Jackson while we were in Idaho visiting Grandma Boyer. We made a pit stop at an extremely low Snake River. (Two days later, after a week of rain and melting snow, the river was back to over, completely taking over the spots where these pictures were taken.)

My mother’s side of the family claims a sizable chunk of northwestern Wyoming and southeastern Idaho history, thanks to the legend of trailblazing Nick Wilson. So Memorial Day becomes a big family reunion – a day at the cemetery, a day with the Wilson clan, etc. The rest of the reunion set is here.

On the Way to Idaho

teton mountains treelines missing the view landscape rushing by

It’s been two and a half weeks and it’s time to get the vacation pictures out. We headed to Idaho – where my grandmother lives, close to the valley my family helped settle – and had a blast. Six people, one minivan, nearly 800 pictures to wade through. The rest of the “getting there” set is here.

From the top: the Teton mountains, treelines along Togwotee pass, Isaac sleeping through Wind River Canyon, a standard view out of the window in central Wyoming.
